Description
Kuker mask decorated with feathers.
It symbolizes the revival of new life after the long months of darkness and cold (winter). The word “Kuker” is of Thracian origin and means “tall, masked people”, so part of the costume is a hat up to two meters high. An obligatory part of the mummer’s costume are the bells and sticks with which they chase away evil spirits and welcome the prosperity of spring.
